Advice on which analysis to use for count data...

#1
I am looking to examine whether one variable (counts of social interactions) is associated with another variable (counts of running activity).

Both variables are simply frequency counts of behaviours which were counted at the same time during 40 hour-long observation periods across two weeks. Therefore, I am guessing that the data are not independent (e.g. we could have counted one instance of social interaction and one instance of running activity in the same person during an observation period, although we would not be able to tell from the dataset).

I want to see whether there is a correlation between the two variables, please could anyone provide advice on which method would be most appropriate?

Thanks
