Comparing one variable between multiple populations, how to test?

#1
Hi everyone,

I have to analyse parts of a larger dataset and I have been trying for a while to decide which statistical test is most appropriate but I can't seem to work it out. I was wondering if someone could give me some advice or point me in the right direction?

The dataset is based on populations of a predatory mite species and the overall question I am trying to answer is: Is there an overall difference in the interaction period of the predator with the prey between populations from Turkey and those from Sicily?

In the dataset, "interaction period" is counted in days so all values are positive and range from 7 - 16 days and there are 6 populations from Turkey and 5 populations from Sicily, with 5 replicates in each location.

I am using R.

I thought about a chi-sq test but I am not sure how to set up the contingency table with these data so some advice would be great.

Thanks
