correlation coefficient and slope

#1
Hi,

I am not a statistics guy but I need some help understanding something. Looking at this page - http://www.tradetrek.com/Education/risk_management.asp, it explains beta as the linear regression slope of the two time series. It explains correlation as the linear regression correlation coefficient of the two time series. What is the difference between the two? What is the meaning of linear regression correlation and how is it different from slope?

thanks,

Sam
