deciding which form of ANOVA to use

Hi there,

I am struggling to choose which form of ANOVA to use for a problem I have.

there is a court case where participants have to decide on a penalty for a criminal. criminal attractiveness was manipulated (no photo provided, unattractive photo, attractive photo) and whether the participant was of the same or opposite sex to the criminal was also manipulated. the DV was the length of the penalty assigned & I will test whether there were any effects of attractiveness and sex on the penalty given (in years).

this is all the info I have, would this be a 2-way between participants ANOVA?

If your assumptions are met and you have two factors (gender) and attractiveness (not sure how this is measured but assuming it is yes or no), then yes a two-way anova appears to be appropriate.
