'relative difference' as dependent variable

#1
Hello all,

I need help in understanding the regression result. The dependent variable is the travel distance difference within partners. The independent variable is age difference within partners. My question is how to interpret the association between age difference and travel distance difference.
travel distance difference is the distance difference between male and female partners (Male distance -Female distance)
The age difference is a dummy variable in three categories: 1. M older than F, 2. both equally aged and 3. F older than M. My reference category is both equally aged. As both dependent and independent are relative differences, I am finding difficulty in interpretation when there are negative or positive coefficients

Please help me in understanding

Thanks in advance

In original data, the age of male and female partners are available as well as the travel distance (km) of male and female partners are available. The target group of my study is the cohabiting or married partners within the household level. My research question is how the relative difference in age (or relative dominance in age) within partners affect their relative travel difference. Hence their relative difference comes in to play.
