We are now looking for two

ADVANCED ANALYTICS SPECIALISTS

to join a new team that will work together with UPM businesses to analyze and solve data oriented business challenges. The team is part of UPM digitalization agenda and its purpose is to help UPM businesses save costs, improve processes and find new solutions to business challenges by utilizing data and mathematical modelling. The key methodologies include statistical analysis, machine learning and optimization.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As a part of a three-member team, you will lead and participate in projects where these methodologies are applied to real-life business challenges that have significant value for UPM.

You are expected to take initiative and work together with business experts across UPM. You have good understanding of the technology landscape related to operations research / advanced analytics and you are willing to learn and develop as new technologies emerge. In addition to good analytical skills, you have the ability and enthusiasm to deliver results in form of, e.g., software.

The work does not require extensive knowledge of any UPM business, and both junior and senior candidates will be considered. We offer a rare possibility to apply analytics in an industrial setting with an excellent viewpoint to a great industrial company in transformation!

Requirements

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
- Master/Doctoral degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- Deep technical knowledge in optimization, stochastics, statistical analysis, machine learning, or programming
- Fluency in English

We also appreciate
- Experience in programming (e.g., Python, C#, Java, SQL) and mathematical software
(e.g., R, MATLAB, AMPL, GAMS)
- Work experience from mathematical modeling, IT, business consulting or research
- Entrepreneurial and positive attitude; willingness for business co-operation; ability to execute
- Good communications and networking skills
