2 Tail Hypothesis

#1
A shopper felt that there was no difference between the price of Ever ready batteries and DuraCell batteries. To test her claim she checked the prices on batteries at 10 different stores. Is her claim correct at α = 0.05?
Ever ready DuraCell
X1 = $ 2.14 X2 = $ 2.08
s1 = $ 0.10 s2 = $ 0.11
n1 = 10 n2 = 10

H0: U1 = U2 (claim)
H1: U1 does not equal U2

Significance level = 0.05 or -1.96 and +1.96

($2.14 - $2.08) -0 divided by the sqrt of ($.10/10 + $.11/10) = 0.06/0.1449 = 0.4140

0.4140 < 1.96 therefore there is no difference in the price of the batteries. I choose to not reject the null hypothesis.
