Basic hypothesis question - variables

Hello,

I am new to statistics so please excuse my ignorance.

My question relates to a hypothesis which I would like to test. I know that hypotheses need and independent and dependent variable.

My question is: Can there be two independent variables in a hypothesis.

Example: Perceptions of empowerment in transformational leadership teams lead to an increase in team innovation.

IV: Empowerment
IV: Transformational leadership
DV: Innovation

I would very much appreciate some help with this.

Hi there

The kind of test to use very much depends on the nature of your variables (continuous, categorical). For a start I'd suggest to check out one of the many choice-charts that help you to pick the right test (e.g. http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/mult_pkg/whatstat/).
If you describe your data a bit more detailed, you can get better help.
