Coding in SPSS

I have used SPSS before but only the GUI (I use SAS and R normally). I am moving to a new organization that uses SPSS exclusively. They mention a need to write statistical code in SPSS. Any suggestions on a quick way to learn that code. The quicker the better.

OMG, they're asking you to code in SPSS? Almost nobody does that anymore...

To prepare a procedure using the GUI and then to paste it into the syntax window could be a start.
Often there are additional options not accessable through the GUI, but these you can of course
find for example in the manual.

if the company wastes time by taking away standard tools, it is only fair to find creative ways to waste company time.

Buy a license or a temp license and start practicing. Boom!

I am sure it is comparable enough to other programs that the learning curve wont be too steep.
