Compare means between groups

#1
Howdy team,

Here's the situation: I have two variables. Variable1 is a test result between 0 and 25. Variable2 is the age category, expressed by 1,2 and 3 for each age range. I want to be able to compare the mean test results between each age category. So what I did first was just: Analyze -> compare means -> means. And then I get the mean test result for each age group. But I also want to know if these differences are statistically significant. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks a million!

Oneway analsis of variance, with post-hoc tests for pairwise comparisons.

Or, if your total sample size is small (total n < 20 or so), then you could use the "non-parametric" Kruskal-Wallis test
(which treats the dependent variable as ordinal scaled).

With kind regards
