Continuous or Discrete Variable?

#1
Hello,

Would the average daily subscriber count for a YouTube channel be considered continuous or discrete data?
For instance, a YouTube channel gains 100 subscribers on average per day or it can lose 100 subscribers on average per day. Is this discrete or continuous?

I believe it to be discrete as it is a count of the number of people and it can only be a whole number but lets say a channel can gain 100 subs per day well it can also lose 100 subscribers a day which would be a negative number in the data.
Does this mean it is more continuous rather than discrete as some values may be negative numbers?

Thanks in advance.

In the context of data analysis, the average daily subscriber count for a YouTube channel is both, discrete and continuous.

If the count is relatively low, discrete level models can be used (with the count as the dependent variable). Examples are Poisson regression, negative binomial regression, etc. If the count is medium or high, continuous models can be used. Examples are linear regression, non-linear regression, etc.
