Q1)A certain stimulus administrated to each of the nine patients resulted in the following increase in blood pressure:
5,1,8,0,3,3,5,-2,4
Can it be concluded that blood pressure in general is increased by administrating the stimulus?

Q2)A manufacturer of house dresses sent out advertising by mail. He spent samples of material to each of two groups of 1000 women. For one group he enclosed a white return envelop and for the other group, a blue envelop. He recieved order from 9% and 12% respectively. Is it quite certain that the blue envelop will help sales? Use :shakehead = 0.05.

Q1) You can try this one https://www.xlstat.com/en/solutions/features/mann-kendall-trend-tests
but given that you have very few observations, maybe this in not very powerful. It might not detect a trend if there is one.

Q2) p1 = 12/1000, p2 = 9/1000. pc = (9+12)/2000.
z = (p2 - p1)/sqrt( pc*(1-pc)*(1/1000+1/1000) )
If z > qnorm(1-a) say yes, the blue makes a statistically significant difference.
