A) Find the mean and variance of Y.
B) Find the expected value of 2/Y

I am unsure what kind of random variable I am dealing with! If anyone could help me with that I could get started on my problem

You don't need to figure out if it's binomial or geometric or anything like that (because it's none of those). The easiest way to do this is just do it directly - look at your sample space and see which values in your sample space map to which values of your random variable.
