Independence of Observations in Survival Analysis

Hi. I have been trying to find some information on why concerns about dependence between observations in survival analysis is often not applicable even though generally data sets include multiple observations for a single individual. Is this something that is overlooked and not so much mentioned in the Survival Analysis text books? Or is this really not an issue for statistical techniques applied in this type of analysis? Does anyone have any references regarding this issue? Thanks...

I think they are of course taken into considerations, longitudinal data analysis. In standard books they explain the independent scenarios always, the dependent ones are a bit more difficult and for the second phase, after the independent. What do you want to do/see/learn about?
