Survival time of components - what approach

Hey,

Some electronic components have had their time to breakdown x, recorded. During manufacturing they have been hardened for different amounts of time, t.

I have to determine if the time to breakdown x, is related to the hardening time t.

Since the response variable is continuous, and the explanatory variable is ordinal (?), should I then use Analysis of Variance?

It's given in the problem that E(x) when hardening time is t, is E(xt) = 1 / (a + (B/t) )
