# The Best Statistical Analysis Method and How to calculate number of participants

Hello all!

I have a research design :

As it can be seen

A, B, C are independent variables; D is a mediator and E is the dependent variable.
While A and C has an effect on D, B and D has a correlation.
In this research
- I guess the best way for analyzing is SEM however the relation between B and D is confusing.

I would like to ask
1. what would be the best statistical method for analysis
2. How can I calculate the number of participants? (I looked for G-power software but for this model, it looks like it is not possible to calculate)

You mean E is the dependent variable? I cannot make out the arrow in the image, do they all point right? Are all variables continuous?

Ahh sorry for my mistake! Yes E is dependent variable. Here I have a better pic:

Just D is continuous, the others are cathegorical.

What is your actual study question and hypothesis (effect of a on e, etc)?

Yes, SEM should. Be in consideration.

H1: A, B and C will have an effect on E through D.
A and C will have an effect on D; There will be a correlation between B and D .
